Pain & Spine Institute History
Pain & Spine Institute began in 2007 when founders Samir Sharma, MD and Udit V. Patel DO, MS, came to the conclusion that there was a large population of patients suffering from chronic pain and nowhere to turn for medical relief. Their vision was to create a highly skilled group of pain physicians fully committed to patient care. Currently, Pain & Spine Institute is a leading pain management group servicing the Chicagoland and North West Indiana areas, offering the broadest array of pain management treatments administered by the nation’s top physicians. Our physicians are active staff members at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and active members of Bolingbrook Adventist Hospital.
Pain & Spine Institute is a caring organization that is committed to providing patients with innovative pain management services. We strive to deliver the most advanced, minimally invasive, diagnostic and therapeutic services to enable our patients to restore function, relieve pain, and renew hope.
Pain & Spine Institute understands that many patients are not familiar with the concept of interventional pain medicine. Our physicians work with you and your referring physician to diagnose and formulate of an effective treatment plan. We work closely with many other specialists including neurologists, psychologists, orthopedic and spine surgeons, rheumatologist, chiropractors, and physical therapist to optimally coordinate the care of our patients. We have locations located in Joliet, Chicago, Mokena, and surrounding areas for patient convenience.
Our goal at Pain & Spine Institute is to utilize minimally invasive treatment techniques that promote pain reduction and reduce exposure to potentially habit-f0rming medications. Our physicians are capable of handling all types of pain, as they have completed an additional post-doctoral Fellowship in Pain Medicine from some of the most prestigious university programs in the country.
